DIY Try: Pumpkin Foot Scrub

Boot season is finally upon us, but just because our toes aren't showing doesn't mean that we no longer have to take care of our feet. Celebrity nail artist and owner of As U Wish Nail Salon, Skyy Hadley, gives us the recipe for her Pumpkin Foot Scrub to maintain our pedicures into the fall.

“Pumpkins are more than just for carving on Halloween,” she notes. “They’re rich in vitamins and nutrients and can do wonders for your feet!” According to Hadley, they contain, “various enzymes that help nourish and brighten the skin, and just by adding raw sugar, you have a perfect foot scrub."

PUMPKIN FOOT SCRUB
Ingredients:
1 can pureed pumpkin
1 cup plain yogurt
½ cup raw sugar
2 tablespoons honey
1/4 teaspoon olive oil

Directions:
Mix pureed pumpkin in a bowl. Stir in a yogurt, honey, sugar and olive oil. Wash your feet in warm water, and while your feet are moist, apply the scrub using your hands in a circular motion. Massage the mask onto your feet for 10 minutes on each foot and remove with warm water and a washcloth.

Get The Look: Taylor Schilling at the Emmy's

HE LOOK: Modern elegance.

INSPIRATION: John Frieda International Creative Consultant Harry Josh gave Taylor an elegant, voluminous look for tonight’s EMMYS, “Taylor's dress has a bohemian Grecian vibe and strong color so we thought it would be cool to take something classic and make it more modern - the volume on the sides gives a contemporary pyramid shape and the relaxed waves evoke glamour,” he says.

Here is his step-by-step breakdown:
·         To begin, Harry applied John Frieda Luxurious Volume Volume Building Mousse on towel dried hair for maximum volume and width.

·         Then, Harry loosely blow dried sections of her hair with a round brush.
·         After blow drying, he used the Harry Josh Pro Tools 2-in-1 Ceramic Marcel Curling Iron to create waves - making sure to wrap the hair around the iron in the same direction.
·         Once the curls set, he finished off the look with John Frieda Luxurious Volume All-Day Hold Hairspray to give the hair some shine and to keep it from falling flat.

Get the Look: Uzo Aduba at the Emmy's

To complement Uzo’s elegant, intricately hand-painted gown, I created a makeup look that embodied the epitome of classic beauty. Long, lush lashes enhanced her subtly smokey eyes and defined brows, while I kept the rest of the makeup extra dewy and natural for a flawless finish.” – Janice Kinjo for SheaMoisture Cosmetics

The Look:
FACE:
  • I started by applying SheaMoisture Sheer Liquid Foundation in Montego Toffee to highlight the under-eye area, T-Zone and bridge of the nose. Then, I applied the shade inKa’u Brown Blaze for a subtle contour before blending both shades with Canoa Espresso for a seamless finish.
  • To set foundation, I used SheaMoisture Wet/Dry Pressed Powder in Yala Golden, focusing on the high parts of the face the lighter foundation was applied. Then, I appliedSheaMoisture Perfecting Face Powder Duo in Deep to the contours of the face, setting the deeper-toned foundation.
  • I applied SheaMoisture Lip/Cheek Balm in Avignon Rose as a base before setting with SheaMoisture Mineral Blush in Annecy Maroon for a natural, rosy flush on the cheeks.
EYES:
  • I filled in Uzo’s brows using the two shades and setting wax within SheaMoisture The Perfect Brow Kit in Brown. I then applied SheaMoisture Color Correcting, Contouring and Highlighting Palette in Medium to further shape and define brows.
  • Using a wet eyeshadow brush, I applied the matte brown shade from SheaMoisture Rich Earth Palette in combination with SheaMoisture Wet/Dry Eyeshadow in Claudia to create a soft, smokey eye. Then, I added a pop of shimmer to the inner corner of the eyes with SheaMoisture Wet/Dry Eyeshadow in Cassandra. Lastly, I coated lashes withSheaMoisture Lengthening Mascara in Black for a fluttery lash look.
LIPS:
  • I first primed lips with a bit of foundation for a truly nude, matte base. Then the ultra-moisturizing and natural nude SheaMoisture Lip Crayon in Calixta was applied to the lips as the finishing touch to this classic, effortless beauty look.

Dana Goes To Tracy Reese!

One of the best times to visit New York is during fashion week! The hustle and bustle is in overdrive and the energy is electric. Lucky for me, I got a chance to attend the Tracy Reese show and even got in on some backstage access.

I was so excited to learn that lead Hair Stylist Bok-Hee was using my favorite hair care line, SheaMoisture, to help create the looks. Boh-Kee said she wanted to go for a transparent and airy look. She said when collaborating with Tracy on the look, she thought of a girl in a desert who was "beautifully tired yet natural."

 Boh-Kee working her magic

Boh-Kee and her team used SheaMoisture's new professional line along with some of their staples to get the models ready for the runway. First, they used SheaMoisture Professional Curl Leave-In Conditioner to prep the hair. Then, the front hairline was sectioned off and the remaining hair was pulled back into a low chignon using SheaMoisture Professional Blow Dry Cream!  The team used SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Texture Spray on the front of the hair, then teased it to create the airy look. Finally, the whole head was finished using SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Mist.

Now the models are ready for the runway!

Tracy Reese's show was nothing short of awesome! The collection was full of color, florals and sequins. I loved that the pieces were very wearable for even the everyday woman like myself. Wide legged pants, shift dresses and rain ponchos were some of the items that danced down the runway. The shoes had funky chunky heels and were designed by Sarah Jessica Parker who was also spotted in the front row. Andre Leon Tally, SNL's Sasheer Zamata and celeb stylist June Ambrose were also in attendance!

Sally Hansen Does Fashion Week!

Sally Hansen was behind some of the best nail looks this year at New York Fashion Week. Create the look at home from with Sally Hansen colors and show inspiration.
Sally Hansen for Adam Selman
THE INSPIRATION
A collection inspired by a long-forgotten nudist colony in Hawaii; full of prints, bright colors and frills, we wanted a nail that gave the girls a more tomboy edge to balance the femininity of the clothes.
 THE NAIL LOOK
For Adam Selman’s highly anticipated Spring/Summer 2016 Collection, he turned to Sally Hansen, the #1 Nail Color and Nail Care brand in the US, and Madeline Poole, Sally Hansen Global Color Ambassador, to create an exclusive nail look.
Madeline explains, “Adam Selman’s collection was inspired by a long-forgotten nudist colony in Hawaii, and features bold prints, bright colors and frills to evoke a tropical feel. We wanted to balance the feminity of the clothes with a nail look that gave the girls more of a tomboy edge. The nails were ironically painted with nails: we used the head of a construction nail dipped in Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Dark Hue-mor to paint haphazardly placed circles on clear nails. The look feels as if the girls painted it on themselves with a marker.”
Dark Hue-mor is part of Sally Hansen’s award-winning Complete Salon Manicure collection that infuses trend-setting shades with an expert-quality formula to deliver salon-caliber results. Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure delivers seven salon manicure steps in one bottle. Chip resistant strength joins gel-quality shine. Must-have color meets nourishing benefits. Plus, with a built-in base and top coat, it’s everything you need to achieve a professional manicure at home. Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Dark Hue-mor costs $7.99.
Sally Hansen for Misha NoNoo
THE INSPIRATION
Misha Nonoo’s Spring Summer 16 collection was inspired by the idea of a movement in all senses. A movement can be a graceful motion with grand results. From the colorfully bold, modern lines of the 60s’ minimal art movement to the simultaneous spirited beginnings of the women’s rights movement, Misha has created a playful yet powerful wardrobe that brings us to the present day. Misha’s goal has always been to create a uniform for women as well as embracing the individual. Embracing the strength of the individual, Misha invites the modern woman to her world.
 THE NAIL LOOK
Misha Nonoo turned to Sally Hansen, the #1 Nail Color and Nail Care brand in the US, and Madeline Poole, Sally Hansen Global Color Ambassador, to create two exclusive looks. To complement Misha’s Spring Summer 2016 collection, Madeline envisioned a minimalistic look with a bold twist. For the first style, models wore Complete Salon Manicure in Almost Almond with gold star accents, while the second look featured Complete Salon Manicure in Red My Lips with a lightning bolt detail. Madeline then used Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Gilty Party to create the detailing on the pinky and middle fingers, giving the classic colors an unexpected edge.
Almost Almond, Red My Lips and Gilty Party are part of Sally Hansen’s award-winning Complete Salon Manicure collection that infuses trend-setting shades with an expert-quality formula to deliver salon-caliber results. Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Almost Almond, Red My Lips and Gilty Party cost $7.99 each.
Tanya Taylor
THE INSPIRATION
The Tanya Taylor Spring Summer 2016 collection focuses on vibrant pigments, novel textures and ornate architectural motifs. Inspired by a recent trip Tanya took to Kenya, Tanzania and Morocco, this season's woman is wrapped in painterly over-sized floral prints, loose silk knits and reinterpretations of classic plaids. There is a focus on fluidity in both fabric and mood. Playfully proportioned silhouettes are enhanced with embroidered laser-cutting, laced ties, and featherweight crystal embellishment.
 THE NAIL LOOK
This season, Tanya Taylor turned to Sally Hansen, the #1 Nail Color and Nail Care brand in the US, and Madeline Poole, Sally Hansen Global Color Ambassador, to create exclusive nail looks.
Madeline explains, “Tanya’s collection is an homage to the hand-made textiles, delicate beadwork and vivid dyes used in Africa, and I wanted to continue that aesthetic. I designed a striped nail look that mimics the multicolored, layered jewelry of the Maasai people, giving each model her own unique combination of five different stripe colors in various thicknesses.”
Arm Candy, Kook A Mango, Ruby Do, Water Color, Dark Hue-mor and In Full Blue-m are part of Sally Hansen’s award-winning Complete Salon Manicure collection that infuses trend-setting shades with an expert-quality formula to deliver salon-caliber results. Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure delivers seven salon manicure steps in one bottle. Chip resistant strength joins gel-quality shine. Must-have color meets nourishing benefits. Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Arm Candy, Kook A Mango, Ruby Do, Dark Hue-mor and In Full Blue-m cost $7.99 each.
 3.1 Phillip Lim
THE NAIL LOOK
Phillip Lim turned to Sally Hansen, the #1 Nail Color and Nail Care brand in the US, and Madeline Poole, Sally Hansen Global Color Ambassador, to create exclusive nail looks.
Madeline explains, “Every nail is different at Phillip Lim. The girls are each wearing a sporty stripe of chrome-silver in varying thicknesses on top of an organic, creamy brown in shade ‘All Bark.’ The collection’s theme, ‘Stop and Smell the Roses,’ embraces beauty in dirtiness and transitional colors, with high-shine specks and glossy accents. Silver is Phillip Lim’s 10th anniversary color, and the stripe is an homage to his decade of style.”
All Bark is part of Sally Hansen’s award-winning Complete Salon Manicure collection that infuses trend-setting shades with an expert-quality formula to deliver salon-caliber results. Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in All Bark costs $7.99.
