A Tale of Two Oils

In the natural hair community, I know that it is no longer PC to use hair oil. Everything is a cream or a leave-in conditioner or something along those lines. This is hard for me to digest, seeing that I grew up on hair oils and greases. This is why I am so excited about the AMLA Legend Rejuvenating Ritual Rejuvenating Oil and the Smooth 'N Shine Go Pro Curls Crème Oil.

I was given the AMLA Oil to try after their launch party in Atlanta. I use this oil multiple times a day, along with my other hair products, to hydrate my hair, which can get really, really dry. It gives my hair shine, and it is very light, so it doesn't weigh my hair down. It also smells so, so good!

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to go to New Orleans for the Smooth 'N Shine Go Pro Gro Launch Weekend in New Orleans. I got to get my hair done with the entire product line, but my favorite product out of the line is the Crème Oil. It is a cream and an oil in one, and I use it after I wash my hair to twist and hydrate it after I do my twist out. It has this amazing fruity fragrance. The Crème Oil helps to keep my hair moisturized and holds my curls.

Review: Garnier Clean+ Skincare Products

After being scared straight by an old classmate that looks 30 years older than me now, I have been on the hunt for the best skincare products for me. I have taken many of my beauty cues from my grandmother but sadly, I can not follow in her footsteps when it comes to this. For over 60 years, she washed her face with rubbing alcohol, something that the beauty world has made clear to NEVER do. As you read previously, I have found a friend in the St. Ives Nourished and Smooth Oatmeal Scrub + Mask, but I needed something that I could be comfortable using daily.  Then I was sent the Garnier Clean+ Combination Skin Collection .

As with everything meant to go on my face, I was initially afraid to use it because it includes grapefruit and pomegranate, fruits that make me break out when I eat them. However, it was very gentle, did not cause any irritation, and it smells AMAZING!

Since I do have combination skin, I will also be trying the Invigorating Daily Scrub for normal skin and the Nourishing Cleansing Oil, which I plan on using as a light moisturizer and make up remover. Stay tune for the review!

So Sweet: beDelectable

Right now, as I type this, I smell like an amazing, warm cookie:) This is because I showered with the Vanilla&Cream Body Polish and put on the Lemon&Cream Body Lotion afterward. I was weary to use the products at first because my skin has not always reacted well to products that are fragranced. But, unlike many of fruity tooty body products that are on the market, the products include natural ingredients such as Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, and Aloe Vera, so I didn't have any nasty reactions. It is also free of parabens and gluten. Oh, and the coolest thing: I smell like a cookie.

Giving Me Life 5: Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat

I am pretty much a DIY type of girl. I do my own hair and facials and all of the things that most women pay a trained beautician to do. I do my nails as well, looking to nail vloggers for guidance, but very rarely are my nails Instagram worthy. Then I tried this fantastic little pink potion: Perfect Formula's Pink Gel Coat. When placed on top of clean, filed nails, this polish gives your nails a healthy, pink shine that makes your nails look professionally manicured. I am in LOVE!

Recap: I Am Atlanta Event

Me

Me, LaRubia, and Kiwi

 Kiwi and LaRubia

Nikka Shae, Me, LaRubia, and Kiwi
Nicole Garner, a publicist in the city, was awarded the Phoenix Award by Mayor Kasim Reed. She had a shindig at Shout Atlanta to celebrate. Having worked with her for 5 years, it was a great experience seeing her work recognized. For me, she is a great example of what can happen when you create opportunities for yourself. You can find out more about her firm here.
In other news, I also had a good time because I got to see the homies LaRubia, Kiwi, and Nikka Shae. And there were cupcakes and a picture booth. Who can ask for anything more?!
