I haven't been feeling so happy lately, so I decided to dress up really cute, all to sit in front of my computer all day.
I got a text from Curious yesterday, which is weird. I hadn't heard from him in so long I thought that he pulled a P and just detached himself from the train wreck. However, he has been working overtime and texted me just to let me know that he has been working and that he misses me. I am still not sure how I feel about him but he is nice, and it is nice to be missed.
A good friend of me and Dorothy's is getting married in December. It is one of the few marriages of my young buddies that I feel may last. So I ask Dorothy how she figured our friend knew her fiance was the one and not just a dude she was in love with for the time being. If I married every man I thought I was in love with from 16 up, I would have so many rocks on my fingers you would think I was Zsa Zsa Gabor! But Dorothy cleared up my thinking. She informed me that I have it all wrong. That there is no "one." You just work on a guy that is nice until you can see yourself with them forever and then get hitched. Create a man you can tolerate- don't waste time with fantasies.
With that being said, maybe my "one" is more like Curious and less like Drake.

A Curious REappearance
Last night I got a text from Curious I asked him what happened to him. I haven't heard from him in days! His response: he was asleep. So here I sit, feeling dumb that I freaked out over nothing.
Yet I don't know about that girlfriend/ boyfriend thing. With a clear head, free of images that he is dead, I stand by my original idea: that we cross that bridge after we actually hang out together. So let's keep hat gf/bf thing under our hats, shall we?

A Curious Disappearance
On the 15th at one something in the morning, Curious called me. He said he was on his way home from what I am assuming is work. During the call, the signal dropped. I waited a few minutes for him to call me back, he didn't. So I called him...twice. No answer. The next day I woke-up to no missed calls or unread messages from him, which is unusual. I went into worry mode.
I called him like two other times, no answer. My mind was racing with images of him getting into an accident or being hurt. I mean, the signal just dropped! I went from worried to panicked.
So who else do I text but Brownie, who suggests that he is probably fine, but maybe ignoring me. Me. Me! Maybe he is "flipping the game on me." Me! My mood went from panicked to pissed.
But then I had to step back. We have gone days without calling or texting. Maybe he is busy or something. Whatever the reason is that I have not heard from him, I want to hear from him...desperately.
Staring at my phone before I sent him my trillionth text, I was mad at myself for playing with this boy's emotions. I do like him. Instead of being annoyed by his...at times...tasteless sex talk, I should have just told him it made me feel weird and to stop instead of not answering his texts. And when he told me, well, texted me that he wanted to be thought of sometimes, he was being real with me. Would it have killed me to have called him?
The only thing worse than playing games in the first place is not knowing when to stop. I sit here shaking my head. Why was I trying to get a guy who liked me to like me more? I feel so stupid.
So I texted Brownie that I think that I am in love, and he told me I wasn't. Maybe I'm not. But in the event that I hear from Curious again and that boyfriend offer is still on the table, I'm going to take it.

Bad Communication
It's true! Brownie was telling the truth! If you ignore a boy, he will pay attention to you!
Case in point, Curious. I was just so tired of being the one reaching out to him all the time, you know the story. So Brownie told me to ignore him. I stopped answering his texts and didn't call.
Fast forward to yesterday. As I was baking chicken breasts, he calls me and demands to know why I have not been texting or calling him. I tell him straight up that I was tired of making all of the efforts and figured that when he wanted to hear from me, he would call. Brownie says I just should have told him I was busy, but I felt like the truth was in order. Curious said that wasn't cool, that that's "bad communication" and that he waits on me to call him because he figures I am busy. Whatever.
Then he goes on to tell me he is going back to school. Now, this was shocking, seeing that I have brought this topic up before and he crapped on it. Now, after a week of no convo, he is ready to get an education.
I hate playing games with folks, but this is one trick I am going to keep up my sleeve.

What A Dud
So Curious actually did come to Atlanta, but of course, nothing went as planned.
The way I remember it, when he called me, he told me that he was not coming. He tells me that he told me he was coming, but that he would not be able to take me to the movies because he was not driving down, he was driving with someone.
OK. So he calls me early yesterday to tell me that he is here. I was caught completely off guard. I looked like crap. I was broke, and I really had no intention of leaving the house. However, I told him I would come visit him that night and spend the night, which was a big step for me that I was questioning all day. Either way, I was happy to be getting some male attention...FINALLY.
Here is where it goes wrong: I call him on my way to the gym to confirm our plans. He tells me that he is in Decatur, which is quite far from his downtown Atlanta hotel room. Very far for a guy that is not driving. Apparently, he has "people" in Decatur who came and scooped him up. They went to the aquarium and such and were still hanging out. Ok. But ten minutes before I am to go visit, dressed adorably I may add, he tells me that he is still in Decatur, waiting on a ride into the city. Right...so I tell him I am not coming downtown and he not be there. He says we can meet up tomorrow...for like an hour before he takes the bus home.
So it didn't work out. But I have been thinking about how short of a trip he was taking down here to see me. Only a day? Granted he has a job he may have had to get back to, but it is Memorial Day Weekend! So he was essentially going to smash me and go home? Maybe I am wrong, but that is what it feels like. Sigh of relief. God has again saved my hymen from near breakage.

Curious and the City
So Curious is supposed to be popping up for Memorial Day weekend to take me to see Sex and The City 2. I want to be excited, but I am sure that there is like an 80% chance that it won't happen. Why? Because boys lie and if they don't mean to lie, they end up becoming habitual broken promise makers. I don't know what annoys me most, the fact that he may not come so I will miss out on some much needed NC-17 action, or missing out on seeing the most anticipated movie of the summer for free?! I don't know if I can take another weekend of writing my articles and going to the gym, pretending to workout. What a bust!

Curious and Holly Sittin' In a Tree?
Curious called me the other day and told me that he wants me to be his girlfriend.
OK.
And I was all like, we don't even know each other! We have never met.
He said he knows all he needs to know about me.
I asked him my last name. He didn't know it.
I told him he was rushing things. He disagreed. I asked him if he was lonely. He said no. I told him I am, but I still want to make a level-headed decision. He said he respected that.
I expressed to him that we need to meet up and actually hang out. We may not even like each other after we hang out. He agreed. We will soon be comparing schedules to see when the best time is.
This whole thing is weird to me. All this time I have wanted someone to really like me, and one seems to really like me genuinely, and I don't get it. I guess the best way to put it is that it's foreign to me. It feels...off.
Funny, I can tell when someone is running game on my friends. Not sure when someone may or may not be running game on me.
OK.

In With The New
So Curious George FINALLY called me, but I have to say, I was not impressed or excited.
How was I feeling? Well, I was annoyed that he felt he could just call me after his stream of endless dead-end texts. I was irritated that because he never has much to say, the burden of conversation fell on me, and I was FURIOUS that he thought Betty White was the name of Betty White's character on The Golden Girls! Um, there are people on Earth that have never heard of Jesus, but even people in the Peruvian Wetlands that don't have access to phones, Internet, or even mail services know that Betty White's character's name was ROSE NYLAND!
Conclusion: I need a new beau. Nothing serious, just someone fresh and cool that I can phone cake with. It's Spring ya'll! Love is in the air...so they tell me. Birds are chirpin' and bees are gettin' it on. And it's not like I don't like Curious, but I want to actually be courted and entertained by a fella that is interesting and will make an effort to see me and CALL ME WHEN HE SAYS HE IS GOING TO CALL ME! My God, it's like pulling teeth these days to find a brotha to fill even the simplest of requirements. I don't even want to walk in the sistah's shoes that is daring to look for something committed.
The only thing about finding a new beau is the pain in the ass of finding a new beau. Men on websites only want sex. Men out and about are weird. Men your friends know all like them and for some reason, they can't tell. Eye roll. What is a sweet, adorable chub to do?
I have not figured that out yet. But I can say that I am excited about finding someone new.

The Curious Schedule
Friday, April 2- 12:27am: Curious texts me "Are you free to talk?" I would have been, had I been awake.
Saturday, April 3- 6:58am: Curious texts me "Are u up?" I think we know the answer to that. Sometime later that day, I call him. Sent to his voice mail message which is that annoying Drake and Timbaland song. That night, he texts me "Are you free?" I call him, I get Drake.
Easter- 2:08am: Texts "U up?" I actually am. I text him to call me. He doesn't.
Easter-3:17pm: As I relax after church receive text "Wat are u doin sexy?" I tell him nothing and ask him what he is doing in a text. No response.
Tuesday, April 6- 12:15am: "Call me" he texts. Don't like the demanding tone, so I don't.
Wednesday, April 7-6:37pm: "Wat are u doin bay?" I tell him in a text that I am just surfing the net. He texts "Wen can I talk to u i miss u its been so long?" I let him know that I am not that busy and he can call me, suspicious that he just wants phone sex. Find myself wanting to talk to him while being annoyed with him for this texting bullshit. His response: "Why don't you call me anymore?" At this moment I am over this phone tag nonsense and continue to talk to my friend Fran, enjoying a fun conversation. I text him that I was calling him and was getting Drake. I am secretly excited that he chucked Drake for his own voice.
Wednesday, April 7- 6:55pm: "I'm on my way home im gon call u na min" I don't believe him and don't really want to talk to him anyway. Enjoying Frances. I don't expect him to call. He doesn't.

Loveless Distressed Mess
Today I talked to Curious George for like an hour.
It was refreshing talking to a boy, seeing that Sorta gave me the kick after Mardi Gras (which sucks by the way, because I had been planning for how long to kick him first?) and the boy that I was kind of crushin' on gave me the "let's be friends" line. Sadly, after not talking to him for so long, I feel like he is not as smitten by me as he once was. What is the point of talking to him if he is not 100% taken away by me anymore?
So back to single, lonely, depressing square one. Grossie-Rossie, I really do not want to be here again. My grandmother told me when I was in college that if I did not find a man there, I would probably never get married. Now, almost a full three years after graduation, I am scared that she might have been right. And the daily Facebook updates announcing engagements from people who met in college is more evidence that Granny was on to something. This saddens me. At 18 I was too drunk to see that I was on stage to meet my other half! If I would have known, I might have done my hair!
I am just feeling hopeless in the realm of my love life. I don't want to go on another dating site. I don't want to meet another one of my friends' male friends who evidently is in love with my friend but is playing along to be a good sport. I don't want to pretend to be flattered by boys I meet in the streets who "like big girls" and whose conversations circle around those hard life topics such as whether or not Tupac is really alive, whether or not Niki Minaj has a fake booty, or if weed really does burn your brain cells until you become a genius.
Yes, I am emotional, and I can not tell if it is because I am on my period or if it is because I am as lonely as my body is telling me that I am. Either way, I think I will get to work on this pint of Edy's and watch The Golden Girls.

Dodging George
Curious George just texted me, asking if I could talk...It's 8:45 a.m. and he is texting me to ask if I can talk.
When I decided to call this guy, I thought that it would be good to have a dude to talk to as I sorted through Sorta, but I was turned off by our last convo. Wanting me to come see him? We have not spoken in two years!
Yet, since then, he has been calling me non-stop; even using that little paging option from your voicemail that no one uses. He texts me to see if I'm busy. I'm not. But I don't want to talk to this guy. And I feel bad. I'm thinking maybe he didn't mean to come off as oversexed and weird, but I don't know. I feel bad for not being into him.
Last night he left me a sappy message. He was like, "What's up? I've been calling you for like two weeks."
See! This is why I feel bad. How many times have I left that very message on a guy's phone, wondering why he was not calling me back after a seemingly amazing conversation? I feel like an asshole. He seems really interested. Why can't I be interested back?
This is a clear instance of me trying to fight against my gut feeling again. The night we spoke, my gut feeling was telling me that this guy was just lonely and wanted some ass, at the least from someone vaguely familiar. But I have to say, I'm not down of that nonsense. But I am not used to being the denyer in these situations.
So I guess I will just follow my heart and continue to ignore this guy. Maybe, like I had to on many on occasion since the 6th grade, he will get a clue.

Introducing Curious George
So just when Sorta Beau wants to show out, I get revisited by T.
Who is T? Well, he's the guy that I was talking to two years ago that expressed his interest through a message on Myspace. If my memory serves me right, which it always does, he left me high and dry, just as we were getting close, by not answering my phone calls and ignoring me online.
Fast forward backwards to last week. I was bored and decided to check my Myspace page, which, in all honesty, I usually go for months without doing. Why? Well, it's deader than the once popular J. Lo sweatsuit, and has basically become a breeding ground for horny pre-teens; a Facebook for club promoters, wannabe rappers, and talent agencies. Yet, I go on there to update every now and again and low and behold, this time when I did it, I was welcomed by a two-month-old message from none other than T.
He says he wants to catch up...blah, blah...misses me...blah, blah. After a year in the Sorta death grip, I recognized his message as an attempt to try to obtain ass. He probably broke up with whoever he stopped talking to me for and needs a rebound. However, I remembered how cool we used to be- how he would call me when he got off work to ask me how my day at my internship had been. How we could talk for hours about the direction of Hip Hop. Call me stupid, but I did want to see how he was, even though, after looking through his pics, I was reacquainted with the fact that he bears a stunning resemblance to Curious George.
So tonight we talked. It was cool, although I have to say that from hello, I was not interested. He curses a lot and I can tell he doesn't know that he is doing it. He also finds the simplest thing I say funny, and uses up-north slang even though he is from North Carolina. I found him to be annoying, yet continued to talk to him, trying to rekindle something, as my mind screamed for me to hang up.
About ten minutes into the convo, he puts on his sexy voice and starts talking about how he had been thinking about me, and just knew I had been thinking of him (NOT) and regretted that we fell out of touch. He regretted it so much, in fact, that he suggested that we skip catching up too much and just schedule travel plans to meet up. Um...hello! Get a clue! Do I look like the jump off? He totally came at me sideways, and figured that since it was in his sexy voice, my panties would drop. Something tells me our reunion will be short-lived.
